System/Network Administrator

About the Client:

They are seeking a System/Network Administrator to join their team in Columbia, MD. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-security environment while leveraging cutting-edge technology to maintain and optimize network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain enterprise networks, servers, and system infrastructure.
Perform system administration tasks, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and software.
Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
Implement security best practices, ensuring compliance with government and industry standards.
Provide support for network connectivity, firewalls, and VPNs.
Collaborate with IT teams to enhance system capabilities and improve operational efficiency.
Conduct system upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance.
Develop and maintain documentation related to network configurations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:
Active Secret Clearance (Required).
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Network Engineering.
3+ years of experience in system and network administration.
Strong understanding of Windows/Linux systems and networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).
Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud-based solutions.
Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks (NIST, RMF, STIGs).
Certifications such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, or CISSP (preferred).
